Community Pride

Supporting Our Communities Since 1921

In every city where we’re based, we are part of the community, working every day to enrich the lives of the people we serve. It is a privilege to be able to give back to the people who buy our products and welcome us into their lives.

Through our more than one thousand Famous Footwear stores, we participate annually in the March of Dimes Foundation March for Babies in communities across America. Over the years, we’ve raised more than $22 million to help fund research to prevent premature births and birth defects.

Although our business is global, we always remember our company was born and matured in St. Louis, which still serves as our worldwide headquarters. Over the years we have given more than $20 million to the St. Louis community. We’ve supported institutions that enrich the fabric of our hometown including Forest Park, the St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Art Museum and the St. Louis Fashion Fund to name a few.

Of course, money isn’t everything – in addition to donating, we also volunteer. Our Associates have dedicated thousands of hours to local volunteerism to support organizations such as United Way and the Two Ten Footwear Foundation. As a company, we encourage and applaud those who give of themselves for causes about which they are passionate – it reflects well on them and on us, too.

Community March of Dimes

The Caleres Cares Charitable Trust

In 1921, our founder, George Warren Brown, enshrined giving into the company’s very bones by establishing a trust to provide funds to worthy charitable organizations. To date, Caleres has donated more than $20 million to 501(c)(3) organizations in St. Louis and many communities around the world where the company operates. We encourage tax-exempt non profit organizations to apply for a grant by clicking the link below. Note that grants are not made to individuals. The Caleres Cares Charitable Trust Distribution Committee meets quarterly to consider all qualified applications. March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31 are the deadlines for submitting grant proposals to be considered at the following quarterly meeting.

The Caleres Cares Charitable Trust focuses its grant making on organizations and programs providing services within five funding priorities:

Healthy Living / Wellness

Arts and Culture

Local Community

Footwear Industry

Our Mission is:

To support charitable organizations, which are either…

  • Strategically aligned with our mission, vision and values

  • Focused on advancing the footwear industry

  • Benefit the overall St. Louis community in growing and attracting new businesses and residents

And have a targeted focus on our corporate mission to live better feet first!

  • Helping develop stronger families by providing opportunities for enrichment

  • Encouraging individuals to live better lives through health and wellness efforts

  • Providing occasions for families and individuals to step feet first into the arts and cultural opportunities in the community

  • While always being a good corporate citizen

The Trust generally does not support galas, walks, golf outings, trivia nights, etc. Applicants will be asked to supply information about their organization, key leadership, details about their request, the impact they expect the grant to have on their organization or community, and how they will measure success.
